One of the typical plants of Chapada Diamantina, Candombá, is also known as the fire flower. The plant has an incredible flowering, since it needs heat to produce its flower.
❝The plant produces a flammable resin that appears when the strong sun enters the combustion process, generating the heat necessary for the flower to bloom. ❞
Even today, the plant is used by some local residents to light fires. In the past, it was used as a lantern when people walked at night between the various villages.
